Goldsmith Goudji on the victory stand
If I had created this section before, I could have regaled you on earlier occasions with remarkable feats involving Goudji.
The most recent event concerned the consecration, on 18 June of this year, of a dove made from silver and precious stones by HE Monsignor De Germiny, the Bishop of Blois. Goudji created this dove symbolic of the Holy
Spirit to mark the anniversary of La Trinité de Vendôme (Loir et Cher).
In December 1999 Goudji completed work on a special mallet which had been commissioned by Pope John Paul II, to be used in the context of the symbolic opening of the doors of Saint Peter’s Cathedral at the start of the Holy Year 2000.
Goudji also created a medallion which the Pope wore during last year’s globally televised Christmas Eve ceremony. The medallion features 12 different precious stones circling an ivory figure representing the Lamb of God.
One year before, on 4 November 1998, Goudji had the honour of being proclaimed “Maître d’Art” by the French Culture minister, Ms Catherine Trautmann, having been awarded the title of “Officier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres” two years earlier, on 15 November 1996, by the then Culture minister, Philippe Douste-Blazy.
